2015 Achievement Award Winner: Heather Cole

From Heather…

January 2015…

Oh fun… New Year’s resolutions time!  This year my husband is Gung Ho.  He’s decided he’s going to train for the OKC half-marathon in April and he wants me to join him.  Ha! He’s kidding right?!?  It’s been 3 years since I had my son, but for some reason I’m still holding on to that baby weight.  Actually, as I look down at the scale I’m 2 pounds heavier than the day my son was born… and that was while he was still in my tummy!!  Talk about depressing!!  And My husband thinks I can run 13 miles in less than 4 months from now.  He’s crazy! I can’t do this.

May 2015…

The half-marathon is over.  And I did NOT do it.  There is chatter among my husband and friends of their next pursuit.  Tough Mudder, husbands and wives, Dallas, October 2015.  Okay, I’ll do it.  I guess I can’t leave my husband hanging.  How bad can it be?!? Well, I’m glad I didn’t google it before I committed to doing it.  So now I have 12 miles to run AND 21 obstacles! This is where Body Language comes in!

I knew I couldn’t do this on my own if I wanted to live through the Tough Mudder, literally!  So, I called numerous gyms and talked with several trainers in the Edmond area.  After meeting with Haley I knew this was the place for me.  I could tell that she truly had a passion for helping people become healthier versions of themselves.  It wasn’t just a job for her, she really cared!  I’ll never forget the first day I trained with her… I was so out of shape I thought I was going to puke and pass out.  She says, “okay, well why don’t you lay on your back and give me 20 crunches then”.  She’s hardcore, in a good way!  She pushes me when I want to give up.  She believes in me when I don’t believe in myself.

October 2015…

I survived the Tough Mudder! It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life, and it was AWESOME!! At many times throughout the course, I seriously thought I was going to die that day.  Here are a few reasons, Arctic Enema and Electroshock Therapy.  I never thought I would be saying this, but I can’t wait to do it again!!

January 2016…

I am amazed that I am being recognized for my achievements this year.  I never thought this could be possible!  And I actually have hope again when I thought this area of my life was hopeless. After struggling with being overweight for almost 10 years now,  over the last year I’ve lost a total of 45 pounds and something like 44 inches.  I feel like I’ve gotten back a piece of me that’s been missing for years.  And I could not have done it without the help of Haley and Kristen at Body Language!

It wasn’t easy getting where I am today, and I still have a ways to go.  But I’ve learned to take one day at a time, one step at a time, and one burpee at a time!

A note from Haley…

I knew Heather was serious about getting back into shape after discussing her goals on our first meeting. I could tell she had been battling her weight for a long time and I was excited to help her. One thing about Heather is no matter how hard the exercise or workout she is always willing to do her best. I feel like she would crawl across a finish line before giving up. I am extremely proud of her. Also, no matter what game plan we throw at her she is always willing and open to being held accountable. She asks questions about her nutrition and let’s me check in on her with myfitnesspal. I often ask “how is your eating?” and what I love about her is she is always honest. Heather’s story is super relateable. She hasn’t been perfect over the last 7 months with her eating or working out, but she has put in a consistent effort and been willing to have more better days than bad days. It has been a learning process with her nutrition and figuring out what it truly takes to get her health back. She has accomplished so much and I know she has more goals to achieve. Heather is a great mom, wife and woman of God. She is an inspiration for sure. Please email her heather.cole2@hotmail.com with any questions. She would love to help anyone out who feels they can relate to her story.  Heather will be receiving 1 year free family membership and $100 shopping spree at Dick’s. She has lost 45 lbs and 45 inches!
